Downloading Drupal 8

To host Drupal on your local web server, you need to download the drupal package and place it in your document root. Apache can then serve it from there.

You have two choices here. You can either clone the git repositroy of drupal or download a specific release of drupal and place it in the document root. For drupal core development, it is essential to clone the git repository as it helps to apply and create patches and pulling the latest changes in the code.
Described below are the steps to clone drupal 8.

1. Go to the Document root of you web server.
cd /srv/http

2. If you don't hacve git installed, install git.
sudo pacman -S git

3. Clone drupal 8 git repostory
git clone --branch 8.0.x
